You may already have seen, but just in case you missed it, the issue of lack of changing places toilets was raised in today's PMQ's. You can watch it here: https://www.facebook.com/mumoam/posts/1342802852492058?notif_id=1513169097303445¬if_t=feedback_reaction_generic This is the transcript for you to read: Rishi Sunak (Richmond (Yorks)) (Con) Q12. Today thousands of profoundly disabled children are denied the opportunity to enjoy a day out with their families simply because there is not an adequate changing room. The stories of parents at the Dales School in my constituency deeply moved me. Will the Prime Minister strongly consider updating our building regulations to ensure broader provision, and, in the meantime, urge all relevant building owners to voluntarily install changing places to give these children the opportunities they deserve? [902924] The Prime Minister My hon. Friend is right to raise this very important issue, which might, at a glance, seem quite a small issue but is actually very important in the lives of those disabled children to enable them to lead the life that they want to lead. I agree with him that the provision of changing places can make a real difference to disabled children but also to their carers. I understand that the Department for Communities and Local Government has been working to increase the number of facilities. I would certainly urge relevant building owners to consider installing changing places where they can. I am sure that my right hon. Friend the Communities Secretary will be happy to discuss this matter further with my hon. Friend. Whilst it is fantastic that this is being raised in Parliament, it is concerning that even the Prime Minister does not seem to realise this issue affects adults as well as children! Let's hope instead of simply urging change, 2018 will see legislation forcing change as well! If you know any adult users of changing places toilets, now would be a really great time for them to contact local media to tell their stories. At the moment, it is primarily parents of disabled children who are in the press telling their stories, but I think this has highlighted how much the other side of the story is being ignored. Happy to help you to do this if you're not sure how to share your story. In other news, we are now struggling to get signatures and I need your help to keep boosting this petition! So please continue to share on social media, email to friends and ask everyone you know to sign it on behalf of the 1/4 million people for whom these facilities are so essential.
