Hi our names are Kyra, Winter Coaker and our Friend Freya Calcutt, We live on the Pembrokeshire coast and are Pembrokeshire Eco Champions. 

During Lock down we have been learning about Climate Change, the causes and effect it is having on our planet. Usually we are more active in helping to clean up our beautiful area but lock down has meant we haven't been able to get out. 

So we have been thinking about other ways we can help, we have decided to start an online petition to stop our local supermarkets from packaging so much of our food in avoidable single use plastic. 

Plastic pollution is a huge problem because it can take over 500 years to break down, filling up our landfills and making its way to our oceans, this is killing many of our ocean wildlife and polluting our waters . There is even such a thing as the Great Pacific Garbage patch out in the North-Central Pacific ocean, its a large patch of floating plastic pollution that is bigger than Europe, that is MASSIVE! imagine if this gets bigger, the amount of wildlife it will effect is not worth thinking about, plus can you imagine swimming in a sea full of rubbish? GROSS! 

Sure we can recycle but the process uses Fossil fuels which add to the greenhouse effect and global warming , the best solution is for it not to exist in the first place. 

Please sign this petition, we're aiming for 1000 or more people to sign, then we can take this to our local Supermarkets to see if we can get them to agree to stop using single use plastics or at the very least a reduction in them.
