Since we have breached the 1000 mark, and we got coverage from the local media, the Leeds City Council, our councillors as well as our local MP, Tesco seems to have realised the damage this parking rules have done to its reputation. Insider sources have said albeit anonymously, that the high up bosses in Tesco have finally realised the negative impact and are moving towards a more humane approach to its parking regulations. What we also understood was that the UKPC 's heavy handed approach often done with full coercion of the onsite security team amounted to a policy of terrorising customers rather than actually regulating the car park. Our primary objective is to make sure that this car park can be used by the most vulnerable without any fear or prejudice, this includes disabled, old people,or parents with little children. They should be allowed to use all essential services around the car park. The car park company UKPC must act in a responsible manner so as not to drive people away from this centre, which can do irreparable damage to the small businesses in the centre, irrespective of the damage to Tesco's reputation. This industry of car park managers are a national scam with a huge increase year on year on parking charges levied on customers which eventually works against our beleaguered high street. We are again appealing to Tesco to review its decision and make the car park usable by all ,albeit sensibly with its time restriction.
