We need your support to negotiate with Tesco
As we march towards the 1000 signatures mark I cannot thank anymore for all the support this petition has drawn, and I am enthralled by the fact that even in our local community how much aware we are about our rights and responsibilities. The negative impact on the centre is also visible. The smaller shops in the centre who pay an extortionate rent to Tesco are unhappy as well. As a lesser footfall in the centre affects them more than Tesco. If this parking contract was given to UK Parking Controls by someone with vested interest, then its Tesco's to investigate. An update from Cllr David Jenkins lays out the Councils query as to the real objectives of this parking rules :
"1. What specifically are the reasons for this policy?
2. Is it to catch the park and riders?
3. Is it to make money?
4. Is it to drive [!] people to other centres?
5. The proposed 30 minute exclusion limit ( So called Tesco's grace period to visit other services outside the Centre) may breach the Equalities Act 2010 legislation as it does not allow people with disabilities a fair chance."
We shall not close this petition till a just reasonable, and respectful solution is found . We are with you.
