Hello to you all,

I’m writing this evening with a short message and one which I hope finds you as safe and happy as one can be in these testing times.

Looking back over last year is something many of us are doing with a deep sense of frustration - loss of hope and trust as well as, in many cases, people we love. It’s so important, however, to look back with warmth at all that we have learnt and built in 2020. Calls to protect the planet’s life are ringing out with such clarity and we can use this as an opportunity to take much needed action. Reflecting on the past helps us to understand what we must now do.

If you can take a moment to read my latest blog for the Sockstar Project on this very subject I would be truly delighted! (you can click here to do so)

This should give you a great deal more detail on some stunning achievements made throughout the year for the project and some food for thought on the reorienting efforts and energies to meaningfully defend nature.

In the meantime, I send you all my love and best wishes for 2021 and would also like to thank everyone who supported the fundraising which I launched as December began. With your kind contributions we have been able to raise enough money to build twenty new kennels for dogs in need of health-care and shelter in Borneo. As ever, I was overwhelmed by the kind words and generosity of all who were able to respond. It’s incredible to see what we can all do when we refuse to look only inwards in times of great challenge.

I can’t thank you all enough for the continued support and will be writing again soon with further updates. If you’d like to keep up more regularly with the projects I’m involved in, campaigns and written work I share, my Instagram is @lucygavaghan

Much love,

Lucy x
