Firstly, I really do hope you've all had a wonderful Easter and a lovely start to the sunshine! As ever, an enormous thank you for the continued support (you are all amazing!).
This October, I'm taking on a new challenge. ( https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lucy-gavaghan-3?utm_id=119 I began, five years ago, campaigning to change the way we treat commercially farmed animals in the uk… whilst maintaining this focus I am now also looking to raise awareness and spark positive change for animals all around the world. One of my main goals is to raise vital funds for the Elephant Orphanage Project in Zambia.
I have been greatly moved by the beautiful stories of recovery and survival of these young elephants and appalled at the sheer number orphaned due to brutal human poaching. The devastating results of the cruelty are exactly why the wonderful people at the Orphanage work so tirelessly to bring new hope and why I'll be taking on this new challenge.
To raise funds I'll be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Certainly not to be underestimated, but to gain as much awareness and hopefully funding as possible, we want to capture the attention of as many people as we can and demonstrate just how much people are willing to do to build awareness and change the lives of these creatures far into the future. Already, nearly £5,000 has been donated- a huge THANK YOU to all who have been kind enough to give whatever is possible. An amazing total, and one I can only hope will grow. The work of the Orphanage is utterly incredible, and deserves every bit of support it can get.
In terms of making a real, tangible, difference to the lives of these creatures, the Orphanage really is one of the most powerful places to donate to and I will do all I can to show just how important their work is and will continue to be. Kilimanjaro will be a wonderful experience I'm sure, and one which will be majorly funded by money I've personally worked to build up in order to ensure that your donations are going directly to the Elephant Orphanage and that we can really make a difference to the lives of these animals!
Despite a good few unfortunate injuries, I'm really excited to prepare for the climb and to continue pushing for greater compassion and awareness for all animals.
To me, and so many others, it's clear to see that we have a long way to go to reduce the suffering animals face at the hands of the people who should be their protectors. With your support, I promise that I will never stop fighting for global change.
Anything you can do to share the fundraising page, or a donation of any amount would be beyond appreciated. Link below.
