Exciting news- my latest petition to end caged hen farming in the UK has nearly reached 80,000 signatures! Have you signed it yet? change.org/nomorecages If you are one of the many people who already have, thank you so much. Your help in the campaign is so important and will hopefully make a huge difference to the way hens are treated in the commercial world. If you haven't signed the petition yet, please take a moment to add your signature to the list, using the link above. The aim of the petition is to generate change on an even larger scale than the previous petitions already have. Now that all the supermarkets have pledged to go cage-free, it's high time that the government takes action to improve the lives of laying hens. This is what the petition is calling for. Cages should have no place in industrial farming, hens should not be kept in such cramped conditions, nor should they not have any access to the natural world. This same view is held by so many people, and though it may seem idealistic, such farms do exist. Caged hen farming is not the only option, it is one of many. Although caged hens eggs can be economically cheaper, when you factor in the loss of life and quality of living, they are far more costly.
