I am delighted to announce that this morning I received the AMAZING news that Tesco have decided to end the sales of eggs from caged hens by 2025! I can only thank every single one of you who signed, shared and supported the petition. Without you, we could never have reached this incredible stage. Tesco have released a statement detailing their decision to change and it has already been covered by a growing number of online newspapers. Here is Tesco's statement: https://www.tescoplc.com/news/news-releases/2016/tesco-to-stop-selling-caged-eggs/ In addition, tomorrow I will be on radio 4 again at lunchtime to discuss the announcements. So it would be great if you could manage to tune in. The interview will be recorded live and broadcast on You and Yours on BBC radio 4. Now Tesco have decided to change, it is in no way the end... Next, I'll be targeting Morrisons and Asda- now the only two of the big four supermarkets that continue to stock caged hens eggs without intent to change. Once again, I will do this using a change.org petition that I will update you all on as soon as it is launched and I hope that you all sign the new petition and continue to support the ongoing campaign. Hopefully, the next petition will be even more successful than the current one! The time scale for Tesco's change may not be immediate, but clearly the petition has made a real impact on them and has created the much needed change that we all hoped for. It is clear that customers do not want to see hens restricted to cages, and evidently supermarkets are catching up with this view. I can't believe how far the petition has come in such a short space of time- 280,303 signatures in only 5 months! Once again, thank you all so much, you are amazing! Please continue to follow the campaign and sign the new petition when I send out my next update. Thank you again! Lucy G x
