I, like many others, have been impacted by the intense glare of High-Intensity Discharge (HID) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlights in cars. These lights can have a blinding effect, potentially causing long-term vision complications due to systematic exposure. More urgently, their use can increase the risk of road accidents due to temporary visual impairment. It is not just an aggravating driving experience for many; it is also a public safety issue. According to a report from the American Medical Association, intense blue light emitted by these LED or HID lamps can create extreme glare and discomfort. And according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there is an increasing number of complaints regarding this issue. The time has come to stand against this blinding hazard. Our safety and visual health should not be compromised for the stylistic choices of auto manufacturers. Consequently, we petition for a stop to the use of HID and LED headlights in motor vehicles.
