The Issue

For too long, I've watched as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operates unchecked, displaying racial profiling tendencies that harshly target specific communities. I've seen this on TikTok and many other apps. Im dominican and puertorican and I could never in my life want to imagine my mother as a US citizen being taken from me. The systematic intimidation and violation of constitutional rights by ICE cannot continue unabated. It's not only an ecological issue but a humanitarian crisis that demands immediate action and restitution.

ICE's actions have often led to racial profiling, where individuals are wrongfully targeted based solely on their ethnicity or appearance. Such practices starkly oppose the foundational American principles of freedom and equality. According to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), incidents have surfaced where communities are racially profiled, leading to the wrongful detainment of thousands who were simply going about their daily lives. These actions not only disregard the constitutional rights of individuals but also foster fear and divide in our diverse communities.

A 2019 study by Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) highlighted that ICE detainers are predominantly placed on individuals from Latin American countries. These disproportionate numbers indicate a troubling trend towards racial profiling that cannot be justified under any circumstances.

We demand that lawmakers take immediate action to terminate ICE in its current form and hold the agency accountable for its unconstitutional practices. This includes legal action against those responsible for decisions that violate civil liberties and reparative measures for the communities harmed by their actions.

Furthermore, we propose reforming immigration enforcement to uphold human rights and dignity. This entails investing in community-based solutions that foster integration and respect for all, irrespective of their origin.

President Trump is scared and knows we will fight. End the racial profiling and unconstitutional actions of ICE. Join the families that are losing their siblings, mothers, fathers, and me. in demanding change by signing this petition. Stand up for justice, equality, and the true spirit of America.
