Thank you once again to everyone who has signed and supported this petition.

As part of my continuing efforts to establish exactly how the current PPV licensing system operates, I have now submitted a Freedom of Information request concerning work permits and PPV drivers.

The request seeks to establish what procedures currently exist between the Government's Work Permit system and the Road Transport Licensing Committee, including how it is ensured that where a PPV driver is legally required to hold a work permit, the necessary permission is in place.

I have also requested information about communication and information sharing between the relevant bodies, existing procedures and safeguards, enforcement responsibilities, and available statistics relating to work permits for PPV drivers.

I want to stress that I am not prejudging what the response will show. If robust procedures and effective information sharing are already in place, that will provide welcome reassurance to both the public and the taxi trade. If gaps are identified, they should be considered as part of the forthcoming review of the industry.
My objective remains the same: to ensure that the Isle of Man has a PPV licensing system in which passengers, professional drivers and the wider public can have confidence.

If you have already signed this petition, please consider sharing it with your friends, family and across social media.

Signing is enormously appreciated, but sharing the petition can be just as important. The more people who see it, the stronger the message that public safety, transparency and confidence in our taxi and private hire industry matter.

Thank you

Barry.
