The Issue

2022 has been a banner year for our nation's largest source of carbon-free energy.

Thanks to the efforts of grassroots advocates, community and business leaders and policymakers, Congress passed legislation to level the playing field for existing nuclear power plants and encourage the development of advanced nuclear reactors. That’s bipartisan, nuclear-powered progress advocates can be proud of.

Supporting nuclear energy means reducing our carbon emissions while creating new jobs and bolstering our national security.

Now, with a new session of Congress beginning in January, we need you to keep up the momentum and show the new lawmakers just how important reliable, carbon-free nuclear energy is to building America’s clean energy future – and how many people are passionate about the cause.

If you care about addressing climate change, creating jobs and protecting our national security, then you care about nuclear energy. It only takes 30 seconds to tell the new Congress: Nuclear Matters for America!

SIGN OUR PETITION: Tell your elected leaders that Nuclear Matters for America!

Don’t just take it from us, the benefits of nuclear energy are clear:

  1. Nuclear plants support 475,000 high-paying jobs and generate $60 million to fuel America’s economy, strengthening communities across the country.
  2. Every year, nuclear energy saves our atmosphere from 476 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions that would otherwise likely come from fossil fuels. Did you know that’s the equivalent of saving 7.9 billion tree seedlings grown for 10 years?
  3. As an always-on, reliable energy source, nuclear power bolsters our energy independence. A strong nuclear fleet enhances our national security and makes us less vulnerable to unanticipated global energy supply shocks.

Sign our petition today to join the growing chorus of nuclear energy advocates across the country. Together, we can help build America’s clean energy future.
