Dear friends of Iffley Open House, We need your help! Yesterday we had to move our 20 homeless residents into a new building, the Old Power Station at Osney Mill and so we have set up a new petition calling on our new landlords, Said Business School to allow us to stay. You may have seen in the media that after a fantastic win to get an agreement with the Co-op to stay at old VW garage in east Oxford until April, the owners Wadham College stepped in and revoked the agreement and gave us notice to leave two months earlier! Yesterday we were forced to move from our temporary home. We have had to act swiftly and as a community to ensure our 20 residents were not thrown back onto the streets when temperatures this week will drop close to zero and heavy rain is forecast. Yesterday afternoon we relocated to the Old Osney Power Station building and need your support to call on the owners, Said Business School to allow us to stay out the winter. We have legally occupied the building, which has been empty for more than 7 years, entering through an open window. Our aim has always been to offer warm, safe, secure accommodation for a group of rough sleepers and homeless people in Oxford until the coldest, harshest months of the year are over.
