JOIN US TODAY: Make a quick, polite call using our sample message below to urge OK Foods to tell the public whether it uses cruel “nose bones!”
Because today’s “broiler” birds are bred for unnatural, crippling rapid growth, dull plastic “nose bones” are stabbed through the sensitive nostrils of male “breeder” birds to restrict their food intake. But since COK’s Tyson investigation exposed “nose boning,” one worker has been convicted of animal cruelty for this practice, and 17 of the top 20 chicken producers in the US have confirmed to COK that they’re eliminating or do not use these archaic devices.
Thanks to you, after Peco Foods, Amick Farms, Mar-Jac Poultry, Fieldale Farms, and Case Farms were recently flooded with calls, they issued formal statements confirming they don’t use “nose bones.” However, OK Foods still remains silent.
Please join us TODAY, June 21, for a nationwide call-in urging OK Foods to issue a public statement against “nose bones.” Make a quick call to 1-800-635-9441, extension 0, with a polite message like this:
“Hi, my name is _____ and I’m calling as a concerned consumer to ask whether OK Foods uses outdated, cruel ‘nose bones’ in its broiler breeders. A former Tyson employee was recently convicted of cruelty for using ‘nose bones,’ and 17 of the top 20 chicken producers, including Tyson, Perdue, and Pilgrim’s, have already confirmed to Compassion Over Killing that they are phasing out or do not use them. Will OK Foods join them and issue a public statement?”
If you get a busy signal, please try again in a few minutes. After you call, don’t forget to email campaigns@cok.net with any response you get from the company, and multiply your impact by sharing this link on social media: http://bit.ly/CallOKFoods. Thanks for your compassion!
