Dear friends,
It has been a while since my last message, but I am writing to you today because the anniversary of the fall of Assad’s regime in Syria is approaching.
For more than a decade, Bashar al-Assad and his regime committed war crimes and crimes against humanity with complete impunity. Yet he and his officials continue to enjoy freedom and protection in Moscow, other safe havens around the world, and even within Syria.
Now, one year after the fall of the regime, there is a real opportunity for justice. Survivors, families of the disappeared, and Syrians everywhere are urgently demanding accountability. The world must act — now.
A special court within the Syrian judicial system, supported by the international community, could finally put Assad and all those responsible for Syria’s crimes on trial. If Assad walks free, every dictator will learn the same lesson: you can bomb hospitals, torture children, drop chemical weapons — and still escape justice.
Please urge your government to support the creation of a special court and help uphold international law. Let’s stand with survivors and the families of all victims and make justice a reality.
Sign this new petition and demand justice for the victims of Assad’s crimes.
Thank you,
Razan
