It's been absolutely incredible to see the strong pushback against the government decision to approve the Rosebank oil field - from dozens of emergency protests being organised up and down the country, to non-stop news coverage stoking up the controversy, and political leaders from across the political spectrum condemning the Rosebank's approval.
While we are angry about the decision, the resistance and solidarity that we've seen has made us more sure than ever that we will stop this field.
The fight is far from over. Now the ability to stop Rosebank lies with oil giant Equinor and its majority shareholder the Norwegian government. And the power to make them #StopRosebank is in our hands.

The Norwegian government is especially sensitive to claims that undermine its carefully cultivated image as a climate leader. Equinor spends millions on greenwashing itself as a ‘good oil company’ at home, but is relentlessly opening up new oil and gas projects abroad.
If we can make Equinor and the Norwegian government realise that the Rosebank oil field will tarnish their names across the world, that we aren't going away, it will make them finally #StopRosebank.

By allowing its state-owned oil company Equinor to throw fuel on the climate crisis, Norway, like the UK, is ignoring warnings from the United Nations, the International Energy Agency and global scientists that we can have NO NEW fossil fuel projects if we want to limit global warming to 1.5℃ and avoid the worst consequences of the climate crisis.
We need to stop them, and history is on our side. Just in the last 3 years, campaigners have successfully put a pause on Equinor's Bight project in Australia, Bay Du Nord in Canada and Wisting in Norway.
We've won before and we can do it again. Today, we put Equinor and the Norwegian government on notice. Just like the UK government, they're in for a fight.
