Each time we go to Petsmart to purchase food for our cats, we can't help but to stop and check in on the cats that are there for adoption. We have two rescues that we adopted from two different adoption centers and cannot take on anymore, however, we volunteer when we can. It is gut wrenching to see these sweet souls in small cages waiting for a home and someone to love them, even though they are safe, medically cared for and fed. We have never seen a better adoption center than the one we discovered in Oldsmar, Florida. This center makes us feel differently and we don't leave feeling sad. The cages are large with open views on both sides. They are also meticulously clean. During business hours there is ALWAYS someone there caring for the cats. Additionally, there are two separate side rooms that have everything a cat would want including toys, comfy beds, climbing blocks, scratching posts and a tower. The volunteers allow the cats to take turns going into those rooms to eat and relax, and they can sit in there with them and pet them. What a difference from the many other locations we have seen!  We believe that Petsmart could create these beautiful adoption centers in all of their locations. The Petsmart buildings all seem to have plenty of room for it and we would bet that lots of folks that cannot adopt any more pets would be willing to donate to help to make it happen. We hope that BC Partners, Apollo Global Management and CEO/President Ken Hicks will implement an update in all stores across the nation to provide a better interim living situation for the many rescue cats that Petsmart and local rescues help to find their "furever" homes.
