Hi Everyone,
Once again I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has signed and shared the petition so far, please keep sharing so we can get to 200,000.
I also wanted to share another event with you which is taking place on April 7th; to collect all the non-recyclable plastics you have bought from the supermarket and to return it to them on the specified date. All the details including further links to the groups facebook and twitter pages are below. I hope some of you will share this event on your social media and join us on the 7th April to return your plastics and to say to the supermarkets enough is enough!
Date: Saturday the 7th of April 2018 Location: Worldwide.
This event is for those which want to help us make an impact on a single day and demonstrate people power by returning all non-recyclable plastics and packaging to the supermarket that you purchased the products from (which had the offending packaging)
Take them back loose or put them together in a package and address them to the CEO. Hand the returns into the Customer Service desk.
We suggest putting a letter or note with the return, so they know why it is coming back to them, from whom and what you would like them to do about it. If you do put a letter inside, let the staff know that there is a letter for the CEO enclosed. Please either write your own letter or use the sample letter text below:
Dear (Supermarket) CEO,
Please find enclosed the non-recyclable packaging which came with the items I bought at your (Branch name) store within the last month.
I personally would like to see a reduction in the amount of plastic and other non-recyclable materials which are being used unnecessarily by yourselves and your suppliers on the products that I buy from you.
This waste is your responsibility, as you are creating and enabling others to create, a useless by product.
I want to see your processes change now. You should not need a change in legislation to force your hand.
I look forward to hearing about the plans to end this waste production in a timely manner.
Yours Sincerely,
It would be amazing if all those taking part in the event could share their return on social media so please take a photo of your return and please share on your platforms with the appropriate # for the offending supermarket, and for example #plasticfree #plasticpollution #strongertogether #change #notourplasticproblem
