I wanted to provide you with an update regarding next steps.
I will be submitting a copy of the petition via fax and email to the Office of the President and to GMU's Board of Visitors early Monday morning. So, if you know of any other GMU community members—such as staff, students or their parents, alumni, etc.—who might be interested in signing the petition, now is the time for them to do so!
When I send the petition, I will also include a short, introductory note that:
1. Formally requests an in-person meeting to discuss the petition with Rector James Hazel of the Board of Visitors and GMU President Gregory Washington.
2. Requests that President Washington and the Board of Visitors formally respond to the petition no later than Monday, January 24th.
In the likely event we do not hear anything back right away, we are exploring options to help generate attention and hopefully elicit a response from GMU leadership. If anyone is interested in volunteering and helping towards that effort, please send me an email at RobFellner@gmail.com.
Thank you all again for your support, as well as your willingness to help defend our fundamental rights to bodily autonomy. We will be back in touch with another update early next week. In the meantime, have a great weekend!
