Don Jones and the Chesapeake Climate Action Network

15 Nov 2017
In the Virginia elections last week, more than a dozen candidates had rejected all contributions from Dominion Energy — the megapolluter behind the Atlantic Coast Pipeline— and WON. It's clear that the tide is turning on Dominion’s power in Virginia — and that people power works.
But now, we’re getting closer and closer to seeing the Atlantic Coast Pipeline approved, as well as the equally monstrous Mountain Valley Pipeline. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will will hold final hearings in Richmond for the MVP on December 6 and 7, and for the ACP on December 11 and 12. At the end of these meetings, the agency is expected to issue its final decision.
This is it. This is the moment we've been waiting for. So now we have one last chance for a big, huge, historic action to convince the DEQ to do the right thing and REJECT these fracked-gas pipelines.
On Saturday, December 2, we’ll descend on Richmond for the biggest pipeline rally yet. With hundreds of people, we can link arm-in-arm to completely surround the Capitol Grounds.
We need to show Governor Terry McAuliffe, Governor-Elect Ralph Northam, and the DEQ that people power will not stop now that the election is over. Our movement will continue growing stronger. We will come together to say: "Be a true hero. Stop these pipelines once and for all."
Join us in Richmond. You won’t want to miss this: https://www.facebook.com/events/127828584582997/
And stay tuned for more on how to make your voice heard at the DEQ hearings in December.
