Last month we told you that Costco, the nation’s second-largest grocery retailer, is reneging on its commitment to eliminating cruel cages confining egg-laying hens from its supply chain—a big problem, as a recent undercover video exposed horrific animal abuse and neglect at a major Costco egg supplier: http://bit.ly/CostcoEggs.
Since we last wrote you, some A-list celebrities have written to Costco. Ryan Gosling penned a letter calling for change (http://bit.ly/RyanGoslingtoCostco), Bill Maher published a piece in The New York Times (http://bit.ly/BillMahertoCostco) on behalf of the birds, and yesterday, an Associated Press story (http://bit.ly/BradPitttoCostco) reported that Brad Pitt is championing the chickens too!
Ryan, Bill, Brad, and the nearly 100,000 people who signed this petition agree: cages need to go.
Take Action: Tell Costco to Eliminate Cruel Cages Confining Egg-Laying Hens
1. Send a polite email to Costco CEO Craig Jelinek: CJelinek@Costco.com.
2. Post a comment on Costco’s Facebook page: https://www.Facebook.com/Costco.
3. Call Costco at 1-800-774-2678 and press 0 to speak to a representative.
Of course, the best way we can help hens and all farmed animals is simply by choosing humane vegan options. Learn more: http://ChooseVeg.com.
