Thank you to everyone who joined us in submitting public questions to hold Derby City Councillors to account on the #CostOfLivingCrisis #SocioEconomicDuty at their meeting this month. Check out the video of the meeting and questions asked on YouTube (begins from 10 minutes in).
Our collective questions and the media coverage helped to show that we will not sit back and let this drift. We're looking forward to the promised 'urgent' discussion & ACTION - we've submitted many ideas such as extending 'no evictions' pandemic policy + Real Living Wage + listening sessions and more council tax relief for people facing struggle + energy bill relief for warm hub community centres to stay open + stop adding betting shops targeting poorer areas, plus we'll be keeping the scrutiny up as folks struggle to stay afloat in a sea of inhumane public policy.
The Council passed a motion brought by Labour Councillors backing our campaign's 3 steps in May 2022, though all members of the leading Conservative group refused to vote for it. We'll keep up the pressure to ensure that the words and turned into meaningful action.
