We, the people of Ireland, respectfully declare our opposition to the idea of Conor McGregor serving as President of Ireland.

The office of the Presidency holds symbolic and moral weight. It represents our values, our identity, and our global reputation. We believe it should be occupied by individuals who uphold dignity, integrity, and the trust of the people.

Ireland has never elected a President with a history of sexual assault, and we do not intend to start now. Our democracy is represented through the Oireachtas and the electoral process, a framework which has been working well.

At a time when many around the world are fighting for more inclusive and democratic institutions, we believe the Irish Presidency must remain above self-interest. It should reflect the best of who we are, not the loudest among us.

For this reason, we call on Conor McGregor to step back from any ambitions for the Presidency, and leave the role to those who have earned the respect and trust of the Irish people.
