In recent years, we have all witnessed the vandalism and destruction of historical monuments, graves, graveyard markers, graves of Presidents, monuments to Presidents, and removal of historic informational markers. As historians and citizens, we strongly believe in the protection of these memorials.

The signers of this petition formally request that a bill be passed by Congress making the removal, vandalism or destruction of historical monuments and markers a federal crime.
