You’re local news station is about to be acquired by one large media corporation who has already used their power to force your local news anchors to read corporate written scripts called “must runs”.

This $4 billion dollar deal will allow Sinclair Broadcast Group, which already owns 191 stations, to purchase Tribune Media’s 42 stations. With this purchase Sinclair, with 230-plus TV stations, would have too much national power and will prevent different points of view in local markets.

Sinclair's post-merger reach of 72% reach of U.S. homes is well above the cap that Congress imposed in order to protect viewpoint diversity and localism. A federal mandate prohibits the reach of a single local broadcaster of beyond 39% of U.S. TV homes. But Sinclair is receiving special treatment that will inevitably allow them to control what news and information they want you to see and hear about.
