The Issue

A disturbing new court filing by the U.S. Department of Justice reveals that members of the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—led by Elon Musk under President Trump—may have misused private Social Security data to support political efforts aimed at overturning election results.

According to the filing:

  • After a federal court blocked DOGE’s access to Social Security data in March 2025,
  • Two DOGE team members allegedly signed an unauthorized agreement with a political advocacy group to analyze state voter rolls for evidence of fraud,
  • And improperly used third-party servers (including Cloudflare) to store or transmit sensitive personal data, in violation of SSA security protocols.

The Justice Department confirmed that the data was not handled through approved federal systems, and a whistleblower report from August warned that millions of Americans' private information may have been exposed.

This is a serious breach of public trust.

The DOGE program was promoted as a way to “modernize government.” Instead, we’re learning it may have acted as a front for unauthorized political data mining—with real consequences for privacy and election integrity.

We, the undersigned, call on:

  • The Department of Justice to fully investigate the misuse of Social Security data by DOGE and its contractors;
  • The House and Senate Judiciary Committees to launch public hearings into data sharing and election-related abuses tied to DOGE;
  • And for clear safeguards to be enacted so no future administration can exploit federal data systems for political gain.

Millions of Americans trust federal agencies to protect their most sensitive information. That trust has been violated.

Sign this petition to demand full transparency, accountability, and an end to political data abuse inside the U.S. government.
