Almost 3,800 supporters, help us tip 5,000! Please like & support our latest amoeba awareness partners, TeamKoral on Facebook, & The Leland Shoemake Foundation on Facebook as well (see the petition for links). We'd all rather NOT be here. We don't want any new members. But we need your support, so that CSTE & CDC will hear us. Amoebic Meningoencephalitis is a group of preventable parasitic infections that kill *healthy children and young adults in their prime (some parents themselves)* with a case-fatality higher than most Ebola virus, as lethal as Rabies. Victims are dead within days of onset, yet we know very little about free-living amoebae, or why they are more lethal in some & spare others. We have few treatment options with inconsistent benefit. And climate change is forcing amoeba habitats further North in the U.S. as each year brings record heat. Adding Amoebic Meningoencephalitis to the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance List benefits research and public health education. It makes sense. Every victim matters. Our children, mothers, and fathers are not statistics. Thank you.
