Steve Smelski of Jordan Smelski Amoeba Awareness Foundation, Jeremy Lewis of Kyle Cares Amoeba Awareness Foundation, and I will speak about our personal experiences with amoebic meningitis to physicians at the Amoeba Summit 2015 on Sept. 11th in Orlando, FL. We will be sharing our Change.org petition, Tell CDC, CSTE: Add Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis to the National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System List! with the physicians in attendance. Thanks to all of you who have supported and contributed to Kyle Cares Amoeba Awareness, Swim Above Water, Courtney Nash Amoeba Awareness, Team Koral Reef Amoeba Awareness, Amoeba-Season.com, and all the families we have come to know through shared loss. Amoeba-Season.com owes them a huge debt of gratitude for their support, motivation, and starting the first versions of this petition three years ago. Since then over a dozen healthy young children and parents have died without warning, and we remain united by one purpose: One more is one too many for a killer so easy to prevent. From many personal communications, I know that your commitment and support is empowering families with knowledge and preventing needless tragedies. There is still a long way to go, but know that your support is being magnified by our unified voice with many others who have been personally affected and want to spare others their experience. Your support carries all of us forward. Sandra & Timothy Gompf MD / Amoeba-Season.com, Kyle Cares Amoeba Awareness, Swim Above Water, Courtney Nash Amoeba Awareness, Team Koral Reef Amoeba Awareness, and the families and friends of all of us who have lost loved ones to amoebic meningoencephalitis
