Telecom companies should honour lifetime plans

The Issue

Telecom Companies like Airtel and Vodafone have been offering lifetime plans under which users had the option of adding talk-time value as per their wishes but could use the connection for incoming calls for lifetime (until company had the license to operate) without any balance.

Since last few days users have been receiving SMS about their plans expiring and to continue using the services need to recharge. The minimum recharge offered currently is Rs. 35 for 28 days, which in effect will total to Rs. 455 per year.

So I request TRAI to look into the matter and stop telecoms from bullying customers and especially protect those for whom Rs 455 per year means a lot and have been using these lifetime plans to keep in touch with their families back home.
