The LGBTQ+ community is discriminated against on the daily - especially in school environments. Kids in school are bullied by their peers for being gay, trans, or any other label put onto them. Many are called "faggots" or "trannys," and I have experienced this myself, being an unlabled, gay-leaning person.  This can cause extreme pressure to the LGBTQ+ persons involved, make them feel unwelcome, and now, LGBTQ+ teens have a higher risk of suicide due to what has been mentioned above. 

If we teach LGBTQ+ in our classes, students will be more likely to realize that bullying others because of who they are is wrong. It may teach these students that being gay, transgender, lesbian, gender non-conforming, or any other term, does not change the fact that these people are still people. Without LGBTQ+ being taught in classes, we may also struggle with LGBTQ+ people taking risky behavior in order to achieve their preferred body and gender, or struggle with the pressure of others trying to force them back into their uncomfortable shell. If we win this petition, we could be on the road to something much bigger - possibly a nationwide, or even global, change.

As more people discover who they are gender and sexuality wise, the more dire it becomes for us to take action in order to make them feel less at stake for being themselves. For centuries, if you were sleeping with the same gender, you would be hung at the square. Though methods of preventing LGBTQ+ is now much less permanent, why should it still be that we discriminate against them? And, if we fight against discrimination of the races, then why not LGBTQ+? Aren't they people, too?

As time goes on, more teens could possibly lose their life from bullying and misinformation on the topic of LGBTQ+ health. We need to take the time now to change our future, in order to bring more people together than ever before. The time to take action is now.
