Today the Golden Bay Grand Stand Community Trust received notification that their application for Registered Charity status from Charities Services had been approved (Registered Charity number CC54764). This means that donors can claim a tax credit for donations of $5 or more which are unconditional gifts (ie if your donation does not entitle you to receive anything in return, it is an unconditional gift). Donations can be made through givealittle.co.nz. Search 'Golden Bay Grandstand'. Please note that they take 5% off donations to cover administration. This is beyond our control although we have told them we do not like this method. There appears to be growing goodwill between grandstand supporters and TDC which bodes well for a future constructive partnership. We still intend that the unique grandstand at Golden Bay will be recognised as the historically significant structure that it is, as well as providing much needed protection and viewing. We thank everyone for their continued support, in particular the local community members who have come forward to contribute their skills and knowledge to help retain the grandstand.
