Lift the ban on public worship in Ireland

The Issue

Ireland is one of the only countries in the world to ban public worship as part of Covid-19 restrictions. Studies show that people who attend religious ceremonies live happier, healthier and longer lives. Many religious communities report that the ban on public worship is having a detrimental impact on well-being. The ban should be lifted to allow people to gather safely in small numbers in their churches, mosques, synagogues and other places of worship. Public worship is a right protected in the Constitution, and the Government should do everything possible to facilitate this in a safe way rather than banning it.
