Troubled as we are about the continuing deaths by stalking in Tamilnadu, we are somewhat glad to know that at least one of the multiple stalking-violence victims last week - the Trichy girl Monica who was stabbed repeatedly - has survived. The dangerous issue of stalking and violence against women was once again in the spotlight and it is heartening to know that more people are beginning to notice the connection between the way our movies portray 'love' and the influence this has on real life. The newspaper DT Next (2nd Sept.) carried a detailed writeup by a senior journalist on this disturbing pattern, especially mentioning our petition. The same day, many activists (including the petitioner) appeared on Pudhiya Thalaimurai channel's extensive analysis of the issue. We are thankful to Director Vasanth who spoke on the show acknowledging that the film industry needs to accept responsibility and change. We hope to keep this pressure on by #CallingOutStalking. Please continue to support us and spread the word. Keep mailing us at antistalkingpetition@gmail.com with your suggestions on how we can reach out to more people.
