If you can, please make a contribution to support holding Greg Brown, Planning Director McLean, Corporation Counsel, and a small group of corrupt County employees responsible for this total abuse of our community's rights.

Our long-term goal is for our County Council to finally enact legislative fixes to stop this madness once and for all.

How about we require a simple sign to be posted for six months prior to an SMA Permit Exemption being issued, just as is already required for a Bed & Breakfast?  No brainer, yes? Yet our County Council refuses to act to protect our community!

Greg Brown's architect lied to get an SMA Permit Exemption, calling this a 2-Story, Single Family Home, which it isn't and never was. It's designed as a Duplex, two attached, six-bedroom homes, with two of everything, greedily scaled up to a size that's only allowed for hotels.

Look at the stairwell detail. Even a child could see that this is not 2-stories, and it NEVER qualified for the exemption many believe Brown paid someone off to get.

There are many other misrepresentations that Brown must be held accountable for, else Planning Director McLean will continue to overstep her authority.

Currently, McLean is negotiating to "carve-out" parts of this monstrosity, which just proves that what Brown submitted originally was in violation from the beginning.

Instead, Brown must re-apply for a new SMA permit and this time he will not get an exemption that denies the community of our rights to public input and environmental studies.

If you can, please support Maui Causes and others in our community who are working hard to expose corruption and get Maui’s County Council to approve legislation that plugs the loopholes in Public Works and Planning.

For the first time ever, there are individuals in positions of authority within the administration who agree that change is needed and are taking action to stop the madness.
