This petition has been created in an effort to generate social awareness and traction regarding the recurring problems with hate raids and racism on the streaming platform, Twitch. In recent years, Twitch has become synonymous with its BIPOC users being the targets of hate speech. Twitch has left these issues largely unaddressed as their algorithm continues to favor white, cisgender male creators, and they maintain a loophole policy allowing creators to discuss anything, however crass, under the pretense of irony.

Given the current digital climate and the success of other online social justice campaigns, we feel compelled to spread this message and create a platform for victims of these attacks. Most importantly, we hope to generate enough awareness that the staff over at Twitch feel compelled to finally address this issue and implement changes that will protect their users from hate raids and create a safe space for people of all backgrounds and identities.
