The Issue

Following recent protests in Iran, authorities have detained a significant number of individuals, including minors as young as 11 years old. Many of these children have been arrested without due process, and are held incommunicado, denied access to legal counsel, or contact with their families. Alarmingly, some of these minors are facing charges that carry the death penalty under Iranian law. The following are a few names, but the list goes on:

Kourosh Kheiri 13 yrs old arrested in Lorestan, Taha Rezaie 14 yrs old arrested in Tabriz, Abolfazl Saki 14 yrs old arrested in Ilam, Ahmadreza Khosravi 14 yrs old arrested in Shooshtar, Parsa Hemmati 15 yrs old arrested in Kermanshah, Abolfazl Aghaei 15 yrs old, Taha Balouchi 16 yrs old arrested in Chabahar, Mahan Rahmati 16 yrs old arrested in Arak, Ali Eivazi 16 yrs old arrested in Izeh, Parmida Bemani 16 yrs old arrested in Kerman, Abolfazl Moradi 16 yrs old arrested in Fouladshahr, Ghazal Ghalandari 16 yrs old arrested in Yasouj, Hesam Mohammadi 16 yrs old arrested in Izeh, Shapour Alborzi 16 yrs old arrested in Izeh, Soha Davoudi Far 16 yrs old , Mahan Khoubani 16 yrs old, Hasti Karimi 16 yrs old arrested in Mashad, Benyamin Mousavi 17 yrs old arrested in Izeh, Mohsen Mayeli 17 yrs old arrested in Tabriz, Zahra Mahdavi 17 yrs old arrested in Sabzevar, Iman Hoseini 17 yrs old arrested in Sirjan, and many more...

The situation for these children is dire. Detention conditions are harsh, with reports indicating that they are at serious risk of torture, ill-treatment, and forced confessions. The international community must stand united in opposition to these grave human rights violations.

Iranian authorities have a history of suppressing dissent with brutal efficiency, and the January 2026 uprising has been met with particularly severe repercussions. This alarming situation demands immediate international attention and action.

We call on governments, human rights organizations, and global citizens to exert pressure on the Iranian government to uphold international human rights standards. Iranian authorities must be urged to release all children detained in connection with the protests and ensure their safe and swift return to their families.

Furthermore, there is a need for independent international monitors to be granted access to these detention facilities, to ensure that the rights of these children are being respected, and to prevent further abuses.

The world cannot stand by and watch as these innocent lives are put at risk of execution. By participating in this petition, we can show solidarity with the detained children and call for their immediate release.

Please sign this petition to demand urgent action from the international community to protect these vulnerable children and prevent further injustices.

(A longer more comprehensive list of detained minors, compiled from multiple public sources, is available and can be shared with human rights organizations, journalists, and relevant authorities upon request)
