Very much connected to our petition on Civil Rights for net users, is the more recent inquiries into facebooks direct manipulation, or failure to protect users from corrosive practices that threaten the foundations of our democracy, and the information we receive to operate it.
But the real question is, "Why is the government leaving it to Facebook, Zuckerman and a few individuals to deal with the problem?" This is clearly something the government needs to address with serious statutory law along with criminal and civil penalties for failures to comply. All with the minimum distortion of rights and protections of users of these public commons spaces. It is of compelling state interest as well as in the National interest and National security interest for our government to take this responsibility and not merely toss it back to the "owners" to voluntarily figure it out and devise measures which also assure them of their profits and self-policed compliance of their self-interested rules.
This is very much related to the petition on the Civil Rights of users, and needs to be attended. - Thank you, Red Slider
