The issue
Growing up in a community where multiculturalism and mutual respect were the cornerstones of our society, I have witnessed firsthand the deterioration of our social fabric. This distressing change has left many, including myself, struggling with a heavy heart. It is the very governments we trusted to uphold peace and order – the federal and the New South Wales governments – which have failed us by turning a blind eye to the rising tide of antisemitism and their apparent tacit support for acts of terrorism.
In recent years, Australia has seen an alarming increase in antisemitic incidents. According to reports from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, antisemitic attacks have risen by over 30% in the past year alone. These statistics represent not just numbers, but real fear and danger that envelop our Jewish communities. Instead of fostering an environment of safety and common understanding, the actions and policies of these governments have perilously tilted toward neglect, enabling those who seek to dismantle unity through hate.
Furthermore, their leniency towards groups and individuals who perpetrate acts of terror, whether through funding or policy, reveals an unconscionable disregard for the well-being of all citizens. We cannot ignore the numerous instances where the government has failed to swiftly and justly condemn these acts or hold those responsible accountable.
These failures have not only fractured the trust between the government and its people but have also jeopardized the diversity and harmony that define Australia. It is time for a radical reform; we demand the disbanding of both the federal and NSW governments and the immediate establishment of new governance that prioritizes human rights, secure living conditions, and the eradication of hate in all its forms.
