The swimming community of NZ has been absolutely rocked and is reeling in dismay at Swim NZ's decision to deny Kane and Charlotte the opportunity to represent NZ at the Rio 2016 Olympics. What a devastating blow to grass roots swimming, open water and pool. Kane Radford and Charlotte Webby were recognised by Fina as world class top ocean athletes and were awarded a spot to compete at Rio 2016, each receiving a plaque. However, the very final decider for both swimmers to compete at Rio came down to the NZ Olympic Committee with the endorsement and support from our very own national swimming body, Swimming NZ. Swimming NZ have chosen to deny Kane and Charlotte the opportunity to take up their rightful place in this competition. This cannot happen, we need the whole Oceania and wider swimming communities to support this petition and get SNZ to reverse their decision and preserve fairness and get Kane and Charlotte to Rio
