Dear supporters of suspending HGDC, Thank you everyone for your tremendous support & effort over last few days. We had a huge turnout at the board meeting last night with multiple media outlets covering the meeting. Many parents attended the board meeting for the first time to see how democracy works and realize power of their voice firsthand. With 6000+ petition signatures gathered (4400+ online and 1700+ paper petitioners) and many passionated speakers, WE WON. The CUSD board voted 2-2 on Curriculum adoption: Liang and Kristen listened to the community voices and voted in favor of community while Phyllis Vogel and Anjali Kausar did not; Soma McCandles recused herself. This means the proposed curriculum would NOT be implemented. Our community wants a comprehensive and age appropriate curriculum to educate 5th graders to 8th graders about human growth and development. Parent education and feedback should be incorporated as well. However, more work is ahead of us: CUSD board president Anjali Kausar, the superintendent , and her loyal staff have marginalized parents and community members; Anjali bullied board member Liang Chao for doing her job by asking staff relevant questions; see video below. Santa Clara County Tax Collector and CUSD resident Mr.Larry Stone spoke eloquently last night asking the superintendent to leave the job immediately as she has been fired by the board already; his concern is valid as she could cause more harm to CUSD than good by continuing in her role after being relieved. As board president, Anjali should know this better; but she is incapable of that as evidenced in the last night session where she was asking the superintendent 'What do we do with 2-2 vote?'. She should know that the curriculum could not be adopted with a tie vote. Anjali Kausar is not fit to be a board member, let alone the board president. She is holding too many conflicting positions as CEO of Chamber of Commerce, Intero Real Estate Agent, and CUSD board member. As you can see in the video from last night, Liang and Kirsten came well prepared with their research of Sex-Ed content being discussed where as Anjali did not say anything about the content but just wanted to adopt the material fearing ACLU law suit. She is ill suited to serve the community interests over her real estate or business interests; she needs to be removed from her CUSD position to protect our school district from further harm.
