The Issue

Every time the government shuts down, hundreds of thousands of federal workers lose their paychecks. Families scramble to cover rent, groceries, and medical bills. Veterans, teachers, and public servants are left in limbo — while Congress continues to collect full salaries.

This isn’t just unfair. It’s a betrayal of public trust.

Whether you work for the government or not, we all feel the impact: delayed services, closed parks, frozen benefits, and a system that puts politics over people.

That’s why I’m calling for the Equal Accountability in Government Shutdowns Act  a bill that suspends congressional pay during any federal shutdown. If lawmakers can’t do their job, they shouldn’t get paid.

We deserve a government that works — and leaders who feel the consequences of their choices.
