Recently Stanford student, Brock Turner was put into everyone's news feeds, twitter home pages, and everyone's minds. Brock Turner was found raping an unconscious women behind a dumpster. There were first person witnesses, and confession from the rapist himself. But, nevertheless, his sentence was dramatically shortened due to the fact "jail would impact his swimming career." He faced a 14 year sentence, then that was reduced to 6 years, again reduced, but not by just years. He was officially given 6 months in his county's jail, and was said that with good behaviour, it would only be 3 months. This is an extreme example of the flaws in the American justice system, and should not fade out with a sex offender having only a 3-6 month sentence. Even with his, the sentence is longer than 97% of rapists get. You signing this petition could turn the American justice system around, and allow the victim the justice she rightfully deserves.
