The Next Two Weeks Are Critical - Petition Closing February 27, 2026

February 12, 2026 (Update posted by Clarissa)
Thank you to everyone who has signed and helped to share this petition. We have two more weeks to collect as many signatures as we can, and then we will close and send the petition to the various government officials addressed in the petition. We will also include a request that they use the power and responsibility of their elected offices to take any actions that could accelerate the review and approval of the pending application for Humanitarian Parole that would give Mohammed a legal pathway to come to WWU in pursuit of his education even without a visa so that he could begin classes spring quarter 2026.
Because we don’t have much time, we are asking you for your assistance in sharing the petition link with as many people, networks, organizations, and groups as you can over these next two weeks. The more people who see, sign, and share the petition, and the more visible support we have, the greater the chances are of this effort yielding the positive results we have been working so hard for.
Please do everything you can to help us with this. Mohammed deserves this opportunity, and he has a community of people here in Bellingham, Washington, who are waiting for him to join us. We are doing everything we can to try to make this happen, and we hope you will help us.
[A reminder that you do not need to donate any funds to this petition, even though Change.org will automatically post a message asking you to do this. Instead, if you have funds to spare, please support Mohammed and his family through their survival campaign hosted online on his Chuffed page. They really need our support.]
