Support Victoria: urgent access to safe housing in Stockholm, Sweden
The Issue
My name is Victoria, and I am facing a recidence emergency in Stockholm, Sweden.
I am a cancer patient with serious medical complications and currently homeless.
Despite asking for help since 2024, social services have failed to provide safe and private housing.
I have been placed in unsafe shelters, suffered psychological harm, and left without proper support or income.
Housing is a human right — not a privilege.
Details of my situation:
- I have undergone two cancer surgeries and live with serious medical complications.
- I am currently without housing. Authorities have not provided a safe and private place to stay, despite multiple formal requests since 2024.
- During an official appointment, I suffered an accident and was taken by ambulance, yet my situation was ignored. I have struggled with this issue throughout 2025 and into 2026.
- I have been placed in temporary shelters and support housing where I experienced psychological abuse and unsafe conditions that put my life and health at risk.
- I have tried to reintegrate into the Swedish labor system, but my illness and lack of follow-up left me without support or income. Attempts to access programs such as SIUS and Samhall were not activated, nor was my situation considered as a person with a recent disability.
- All of this occurs despite Swedish law (Socialtjänstlagen) requiring authorities to provide support to vulnerable individuals.
I request international support:
1. Ensure Swedish authorities provide safe and private housing immediately.
2. Raise awareness about the need for effective protection of vulnerable people in Sweden.
3. Make certain that no one is abandoned or exposed to violence or abuse by the state or private intermediaries.
