Petition updateSUPPORT TO KEEP OAKWOOD PARKS NAME & RETRACT MOTION FOR OAKWOOD PARK NAME CHANGE IN VENICE

PLEASE WRITE TO LA CITY COUNCIL TO OPPOSE NAME CHANGE

Please write to the LA City Council to RETRACT THE OAKWOOD PARK NAME CHANGE.

Major Points:

1. Oakwood Park is a Historical Park in the Heart of Venice that both the  brown and black community share deep roots.

2.The decision was made without the Venice Community input. There was no collaboration or discussions of the ramifications the name change would cause.

3. Changing the name would erase both the Venice Oakwood Park History and the Chicano/ Mexican American History in the Oakwood Park area.

COUNCIL FILE NUMBER: 22-0290

You can use your own words with the major points or copy down below and paste.

I oppose the Oakwood Park name change, because there was no collaboration or community input to discuss the ramifications of the name change. The name change would not only erase the Venice Oakwood Park History, but the Chicano/Mexican American History in the Oakwood Park area. Please retract the motion for the Oakwood Park name change and allow for the community to be involved in this major decision making.
