Solutions for the RTC to get out of the crisis...

1. Slash the tax-burden: Subsidy must be provided for the taxes that RTC pays to the govt. The RTC has to be exempted from the taxes or it has to be reduced, if possible. It's believed that about thousand crores of taxes piled up per annum, in the name of Road tax, Diesel tax, taxes on the spare parts, Goods and Services(GST) tax etc.,

2. Subsidy on Diesel: About 1/3 of the expenditure of the RTC goes to the Diesel. The more the Diesel rates increases, the heavier the burden on the RTC. The VAT is low on the fuel of the flights. Central Government supplying diesel to the Railways on subsidy. Diesel must be supplied to the TSRTC on subsidised rates, as in the case of the Kerala & Tamilnadu states. The diesel consumption of our RTC is 25 crore per annum. It leads to 25 crores additional burden to the RTC if a 1 rupee increases on diesel.

3. Illegal Transportation:
Illegal transportation is also added to RTC's burden. The RTC is entitled to pick up the travellers from the stage/stop to stage whereas the private transportation is not allowed to pick up the travellers whimsically but the private transportation is taking it's a toll on the RTC. The RTC can turnaround If the govt can stop illegal transportation and implement the rules & regulations strictly.

4. Viability gap funding: There's is a demand that the funds must be provided under the "viability gap funding" to fill the gap of the losses & smooth functioning of the "Pallevelugu & City buses. There was a decision taken to fulfil the losses of the city buses by functioning the buses through the GHMC. That's also unimplemented.

5. Subsidy Arrears:

As mentioned earlier, RTC is providing subsidy & free travelling services which incurred about ₹500 crore loss to the RTC. RTC's burden made easy If the amount is paid timely.

6. Proper utilisation of the properties:

RTC has vast properties/lands which has to be utilised efficiently. Many of them are under mortgage in the banks.

7. Cargo:
It's easy to mould the old buses into goods transportation amenities. They can be used for cargo.

8‌. Divide RTC: It's better to divide RTC each separately, as Karnataka did.

9.The burden of the losses: No public transportation functions without the support of the govt. The govt must bear the burdens.
