SBJSA UPDATE! We are only 3 Council Members away from passage! With your support in July, we picked up 4 new co-sponsors of the SBJASA! 20th SBJSA co-sponsor, CM Inez Barron District 9, D–Brooklyn! For more than fifty years, Ms. Barron has been actively engaged in protesting against civil and human injustices such as segregation, discrimination, apartheid, exclusion of Africa from the NYC curriculum, police misconduct an environmental racism. And today she is fighting for equality in the commercial lease renewal process by co-sponsoring the SBJSA! 21st SBJSA co-sponsor, CM Mathieu Eugene District 40, D-Brooklyn! This is a huge win for the SBJSA as CM Eugene sits on both the Small Business Committee and the Committee on Immigration where he is fighting for immigrant business owner’s rights by co-sponsoring the SBJSA! 22nd SBJSA co-sponsor, CM Donovan Richards District 31, D-Queens! A huge advocate against gun violence, CM Richards continues to fight to protect his community by co-sponsoring the SBJSA! 23rd SBJSA co-sponsor, CM Rafael Espinal District 37, D-Brooklyn! As a member of the Committee on Immigration, co-sponsoring the SBJSA sends a clear message that CM Espinal is fighting for immigrant business owners’ rights! This brings the total up to 23 Council Members who have stood up to fight to save jobs and give rights to the business owners in their districts, and we only need 3 more to bring to a vote! Has your Council Member sponsored the SBJSA yet? Join our FB Group to find out and learn how you can help fight for rights for NYC small business owners!
