The countdown is on! With just under a week left until May 15, we’re excited to share the powerful story of one particular striker, Kelsea Thurgood, and her personal experience with the climate crisis.

For Kelsea, the last six months have been crazy. After surviving the bushfire crisis, Kelsea has gone from having her home ravaged by bushfires to having her home become the safest place to be. For bushfire victims like Kelsea, the transition into the nation-wide lockdown has been particularly confronting.

As a rural striker, Kelsea has seen the impacts of the climate crisis first-hand. On May 15, she will join with thousands of other rural and city strikers as we take the next step in achieving climate justice.
