School Strike 4 ClimateCastlemaine, Australia
Mar 15, 2019

Friends,

Yesterday was absolutely historic. 150,000 students, in 60 locations across Australia, walked out of school to demand climate action. We were joined by 1.5 million people in over 100 countries across the world.

Now we’re calling on all of you to build on the huge momentum of our school strike and take action to make sure our next federal election is the #ClimateElection.

Join the #ClimateElection KickStart tour in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne over the next few weeks to build on the power of the school strikes and connect with hundreds of people who are ready to turbocharge our community campaigns to make this the #ClimateElection!

MELBOURNE 1ST APRIL - GET YOUR FREE TICKET HERE

Of course there is SO much more happening beyond these three cities - we are organising in more than 60 locations across the country and growing. Watch this space over the coming weeks as exciting plans are announced for other areas.

Some adults tried to bully us into staying silent. Climate-denying journalists ran desperate smear campaigns against us, the Deputy PM said we should stay in school and learn history. But as school striker Jean said “Why should we be sitting in history class when we could be on the streets making history?”

We have well and truly captured the attention of the media, the public and our politicians. We have shown them that we understand climate science, and the urgency of bold climate action, better than most adult politicians. Now we are calling on everyone - young and old - to take this next action to ensure our demands are met.

Join the #ClimateElection KickStart tour to ensure we build the power to make the federal government commit to stop Adani once and for all.

Register now for the #ClimateElection Kickstart Tour.

We have three simple demands: stop Adani’s coal mine, no new fossil fuel projects, 100% renewable energy by 2030.

This is what’s necessary to protect our communities from the devastating impacts of climate change. Australians are more concerned than ever about global warming, after suffering through a record-hot summer of multiple week-long heatwaves, devastating floods, bush fires and drought. An angry summer in which over 200 heat records were broken.

The community is desperate for climate action. Our politicians know it and young people are mobilising like never before to demand it. This could be a turning point. But it’s going to take all of us taking further action in our communities and putting pressure on every candidate that plans to stand at the election.

See you at the #ClimateElection KickStart Tour to make it happen!
