Support the NTRA Development for Enhanced Recreation Facilities and Community Engagement
The issue
The Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA) is seeking support for the North Turramurra Recreation Area (NTRA) Development, a vital initiative to improve recreational amenities and foster community engagement.
Ku-ring-gai Council signed off on the Heads of Agreement for the project at their 25 July 2023 meeting. We request your support by signing this petition to ensure the proposed design changes are approved at the 12 December 2023 Council meeting to ensure that this fabulous fit-for-purpose community project proceeds without delay
^ NTRA Development Proposed Concept
The NTRA Development project entails the construction of much-needed change rooms, amenities and undercover seating to enhance the experience of players, supporters and school children across various sports including football, cricket and netball. The facility will also feature a café and a new community room, benefiting members of the community at large.
The project received Development Application (DA) approval in October 2022 from the independent Ku-ring-gai Local Planning Panel. Project benefits include:
Enhanced Facilities: The NTRA Development will provide state-of-the-art facilities, including unisex change rooms to ensure optimal comfort and convenience for teams when all three fields are in use.
Community Impact: This project will positively impact players, supporters, and residents by creating a welcoming space for sports enthusiasts and a gathering point for the community.
Minimal Traffic Impact: The NTRA site is already operating at maximum capacity for NSFA bookings including training sessions and matches; the NSFA expects no material increase in traffic due to the development.
Noise Mitigation: The NSFA has committed to not using a PA system and the new structure is required by the DA to be designed to minimize noise impact on local residents.
Fire Safety Measures: A comprehensive Fire Evacuation Plan will be in place is required by the DA, ensuring the safety of site visitors as well as local residents during fire threats, while the facility itself will include water storage for firefighting purposes.
Financial Responsibility: The NSFA Contributions and NSW Government Office of Sport Grants are fully funding the NTRA Development, covering both construction and ongoing maintenance costs. There will be no funding from Ku-ring-gai Council for the development nor any financial burden placed on ratepayers.
Accessibility and Sustainability: The facility will be equipped with amenities for visitors with disabilities and will be constructed using sustainable materials, ensuring environmentally friendly operations.
By signing this petition, you are expressing your support for the NTRA Development to proceed, recognising its potential to enhance recreational opportunities, foster community cohesion and provide modern facilities for the benefit of players, supporters and the wider community.
